Earnings Mode Is Now Live on Filot
Filot launches Earnings Mode, a dedicated workflow that takes an earnings release and updates your three-statement model end to end, preserving every formula, format, and sign convention.
Today we're launching Earnings Mode, a purpose-built workflow on Filot that transforms how analysts handle the most time-sensitive period in equity research: earnings season.
The Problem
Earnings season is a crucible. When a company reports, analysts have hours to digest the release, parse the transcript, update their models, and publish revised estimates. The work is mechanical but unforgiving: one wrong sign convention, one missed segment breakout, one broken formula link, and the model loses credibility. The manual process hasn't fundamentally changed in decades.
What Earnings Mode Does
Earnings Mode automates the end-to-end workflow from earnings release to fully updated three-statement model:
- Structural preparation. Scans your existing model, identifies the template column (prior year same period), and copies all formats and formulas to the target period. Your structure, your conventions, preserved exactly.
- Filing corroboration. Before proposing any changes, Filot corroborates model data against the actual earnings filing. It matches values to determine units (thousands, millions), period conventions (quarterly vs. cumulative YTD), and sign treatments (positive vs. negative CapEx). It never assumes.
- Exhaustive template mapping. Documents every line item in your model, mapping each cell to its source in the filing. Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, segment breakdowns, operational KPIs. Nothing is skipped.
- Batch extraction and update. Pulls all data points from the filing in parallel and populates your model with cited values. Formulas stay as formulas. Hardcodes become updated hardcodes. Linked references remain linked.
- Validation controls. Registers every total and subtotal across all three statements as a named control, then validates each against the filing. You see exactly what passes and what needs attention. "14/14 controls passing" means the model ties.
The entire process takes minutes, not hours. And because Filot operates within your existing Excel models, there's no migration. Your templates, your formatting, your workflow.
Built for How Analysts Actually Work
Earnings Mode isn't a black box. At every phase, the analyst reviews and approves before Filot proceeds. The preparation plan is editable: adjust operating ranges, confirm period conventions, add or remove controls. The model update is transparent, with every value citing the source filing.
"We built Earnings Mode because every analyst we talked to described the same pain point: earnings night is a fire drill, every quarter, and it doesn't have to be. The model update should take minutes, not hours, so analysts can spend their time on what actually matters: forming the investment view." — Bjorn Birkelund, Co-Founder of Filot
Earnings Mode is available now for all Filot users.
